ETIKA DIGITAL: FENOMENA POVERTY PORN DALAM BUDAYA LAYAR KACA INDONESIA

Abstract

The entertainment content presented in the social media space seems to be a portrait that the creative digital industry in Indonesia is developing rapidly. In the midst of the frenzy of producing entertainment content that can be accepted by netizens, there are problems in the production of content on social media. The term proverty porn doesn't sound very familiar, but when it is shown the type of content in real, of course this type of content is not foreign to be found in the social media space of today's society. Showing a situation with a portrait of poverty with the aim of gaining compassion certainly cannot be considered simple in terms of ordinary content. This phenomenon is a unique phenomenon because many content creators display the poverty side of a person to reap significant profits. Through this study, researchers seek to display data regarding public perceptions of their awareness of proverty porn content on social media. This study uses a descriptive research methodology. The narration conveyed was obtained from a simple questionnaire related to the perception of poverty porn in social media. The results of this study indicate that 61.9% of respondents stated that they knew the content, while half of them were against by stating that poverty is not an object that can be freely exploited. This study is at the same time a reflexive effort regarding ethics in the digital world where appropriateness and norms become a barrier where a person's difficulties, difficulties and poverty do not deserve to be exploited for one-sided gain.
